Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier is not closing the door on a potential fight with Tony Ferguson. Poirier and Ferguson were linked to a fight at UFC 254 on October 24 or many weeks. Regrettably, this dynamite lightweight matchup hit a snag this week, when news surfaced that Poirier and the UFC could not come to an agreement on terms for the bout.
Dana White, multiple UFC stars to appear at reception with Donald Trump

UFC President Dana White and a host of the promotion’s top fighters are set to appear at a reception with United States President Donald Trump. The reception, hosted by Keystone Corp., will feature not only White, but UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington, interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, and former bantamweight and flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. will also be in attendance.

On Saturday night, the UFC will promote yet another fight card out of its APEX facility: the under-the-radar UFC Vegas 10 event. The UFC Vegas 10 card was originally expected to be topped by a clash between top light heavyweight contenders Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira. When Teixeira tested positive for COVID-19, a strawweight fight between Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill—the originally slated co-main event—got promoted to the headlining spot.

Paulo Costa reportedly needs to drop a significant 25 pounds in the next two weeks ahead of his title fight against Israel Adesanya. The Brazilian athlete is set to face off against the middleweight champion at UFC 253 on Fight Island on September 26. However, the six-foot-tall Costa currently stands at 210 pounds, meaning he has just weeks to shed the additional weight and make the 185-pound limit for middleweight title fights.

Conor McGregor, who is ostensibly retired from competition, got a surprise visit from the United States Anti-Doping Agency on his yacht in the Mediterranean. McGregor, who announced his retirement back in June, shared news of this USADA visit on Twitter, conceding that he allowed the agency to undertake its test because he’s a clean athlete.

Henry Cejudo says he talked to Marlon Vera about how to beat Sean O’Malley ahead of their fight at UFC 252. In the lead up to the fight, many thought O’Malley would remain undefeated and get his hand raised. Yet, it was Vera who got the job done by first-round TKO, and according to Cejudo, he told “Chito” to go after the leg.

Mike Rodriguez wanted to get another fight this year but did not expect it to happen just three weeks following his latest contest. Rodriguez fought back on August 22 and scored a first-round knockout over Marcin Prachnio in what was the final fight on his contract. After the fight, the UFC made it clear they wanted to re-sign him and get another fight quickly. So, Rodriguez stayed in shape and when he got the call to fight Ed Herman, it was an immediate yes.
