Diaz’s manager Kevin Mubenga announced this week that his star client is set to make his return to the Octagon in 2021. As soon as the news broke that Diaz was considering a comeback to the sport he helped make his popular, fans and media took to social media to start listing potential opponents for “The Stockon Bad Boy”‘s come back.

Earlier this week, Birmingham’s Edwards took a shot at fellow welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal, who he was involved in a backstage brawl with in 2019, but has yet to meet in the Octagon—despite his best efforts.

MMA veteran Nate Quarry claims that he still under contract with the UFC—10 years after his last fight with the promotion. Quarry is a pioneer of mixed martial arts, having made his MMA debut back in 2001 in Extreme Challenge. He fought six fights on the regional scene before being signed by the UFC to compete on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, though he was injured on the show and replaced by his Team Quest teammate Chris Leben. However, he was signed by the UFC afterward and quickly knocked out Lodune Sincaid, Shonie Carter, and Pete Sell.

UFC light heavyweight Johnny Walker revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 but is now healthy and excited to get back into the Octagon. Walker is set to take on fellow light heavyweight prospect Ryan Spann at UFC on ESPN+ 36: Covington vs. Woodley on September 19. But just making it to the fight was an ordeal for Walker, who revealed in an interview with AG Fight that he tested positive for COVID-19 upon his arrival in Ireland for his training camp at SBG under John Kavanagh.

Edwards currently holds the No. 3 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings, and is riding an impressive, eight-fight win-streak. Despite his station in the division, he’s struggled to land himself a big fight, and Sonnen believes that’s because he’s not making himself “interesting” outside the cage.

Paige VanZant said in a new video posted to her social media that she feels “absolutely terrible” and wonders if she may have COVID-19. VanZant, a long-time women’s strawweight and flyweight in the UFC, recently signed a big-money contract to join Bare Knuckle FC (BKFC). On Sunday, VanZant’s husband Austin Vanderford revealed that he has been infected with COVID-19 and has tested positive twice for the coronavirus. Unfortunately, it appears that VanZant may have also caught the virus.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 9, Alistair Overeem was looking to extend his winning streak to two and continue his last climb up to a title shot. It was the first time Augusto Sakai was headlining a UFC show and in the lead-up, the consensus was if the fight went late it would be Overeem getting his hand raised. That is exactly what happened as Sakai had success early but the veteran turned to his wrestling and got a fifth-round TKO win.

Nurmagomedov revealed the details of this tournament in an interview with Match TV, announcing that the first iteration of the event will occur this year.
