The Canadian heavyweight prospect, who earned a $50,000 bonus for the Pessoa KO on Fight Island, will face off against arguably the toughest test of his career to date when he takes on Arlovski. The fight will take place on October 3 at a location that has yet to be determined.

Unfortunately for Calderwood, things didn’t go as planned as she was taken to the mat and tapped out in the first round by a vicious armbar from Maia. UFC president Dana White later confirmed Maia will now get the next title shot at 125lbs.

UFC middleweight Trevin Giles has released a statement after fainting before his fight against Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 5. Giles was set to open up the main card against Holland. However, he fainted while getting ready to walk to the Octagon and the fight was called off at the last second. Giles woke up soon after and said that he still wanted to take the fight, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission called the fight off due to the health and safety of Giles, who also works as a police officer in Houston.

The victory improved Maia to 3-2 overall in the UFC, with previous victories over Roxanne Modafferi and Alexis Davis. By beating Calderwood, who was next in line to fight Shevchenko before taking this short-notice fight, Maia has elevated herself to an elite position at women’s 125lbs.

UFC middleweight prospect Edmen Shahbazyan has released a statement following his third-round TKO loss to Derek Brunson at UFC Vegas 5. Shahbazyan’s first UFC main event did not go as planned. After a strong start in the first round, the 22-year-old Californian began to fade badly in the second round. Brunson turned on the gas and hurt Shahbazyan, nearly finishing him with ground and pound just before the end of the second round. The fight somehow was allowed to enter the third round, but referee Herb Dean decided he had finally seen enough and stopped the fight early in the third and final round after Shahbazyan ate a few more big shots.
