Georges St-Pierre has reacted to news that the UFC president Dana White has finally agreed to a possible matchup against Khabib Nurmagomedov. St-Pierre, the former welterweight and middleweight champion is widely regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time. With 26 wins over the likes of Michael Bisping, Johny Hendricks, Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, BJ Penn, Matt Serra and Matt Hughes, and just two losses, the Canadian legend finally decided in February 2019 that is was the right time to retire.

After Deiveson Figueiredo beat Joseph Benavidez many wondered what would be next for the new flyweight king. Three names came up in Alex Perez, Brandon Moreno, and Askar Askarov. Yet, the former bantamweight champion in Garbrandt has been open about a drop to flyweight and says Dana White has told him they are working on him fighting Figueiredo.

UFC legend Georges St-Pierre says that if it was up to him, he’d name Royce Gracie as MMA’s GOAT, while admitting Jon Jones is the best of the modern era. The question of who is the MMA GOAT is always a difficult one to answer. If you ask fans, media, and fighters, they will all give you a different answer. But generally, the top fighters who are listed are GSP, Jones, Gracie, Anderson Silva, Demetrious Johnson, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, plus a few others. But that is the shortlist of the potential GOATs.

UFC President Dana White believes it’s possible that Khamzat Chimaev is already skilled enough to hang with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Chimaev was the breakout star of the UFC’s four-even stint on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi. The Chechen-Swede won two fights in a 10-day span, submitting John Phillips at middleweight and Rhys McKee by TKO at welterweight—both in the first round.

Thiago Alves vs. Phil Baroni and Hector Lombard vs. Kendall Grove are among the new fights added to a Bare Knuckle FC event this fall. BKFC 13 is set to take place on September 19 and the card will feature a pair of high-profile fights on it featuring a foursome of former UFC fighters in Alves, Baroni, Lombard, and Grove. The opening betting odds have been released for a potential matchup between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and MMA legend Georges St-Pierre. There have been rumblings about a hypothetical superfight between Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre for years. Firas Zahabi, GSP’s long-time trainer, has mentioned that the legend would be interested in the fight. On Monday, UFC president Dana White said that he would consider booking Nurmagomedov vs. GSP for Nurmagomedov’s 30th MMA fight. The oddsmakers took note of White’s comments and have now released a betting line.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson said that he would kick MMA superstar Conor McGregor’s ass if the two ever met in a boxing match. The long-time heavyweight boxing legend Tyson recently announced his return to the boxing ring after 15 years away from the sport. He will take on Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition boxing match on September 12 in California. The event will be streamed live on PPV via the Triller app, and the card will feature a co-main event between YouTuber Jake Paul and former three-time NBA Dunk Contest champion Nate Robinson.

Earlier this month, in a post to her official Instagram account, Jedrzejczyk, 32, used the hashtag #33andretired. That hashtag caused rampant speculation that she might be hanging up the gloves.

Jack Hermansson believes that former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker might actually be a tougher matchup than the reigning champ, Israel Adesanya. Adesanya defeated Whittaker by knockout last fall to capture the UFC middleweight strap. Despite the outcome of their fight, Hermansson views Whittaker as the more versatile fighter of the two—particularly after watching the Aussie defeat Darren Till last weekend.

Last month, the bantamweight standout criticized the UFC’s partnership with Reebok after he claimed that he only made $3k as part of their sponsorship deal, despite him generating the company over a million dollars in sales. According to O’Malley, he was paid incredibly low royalties given the success of his clothing with the company.

UFC president Dana White believes that the winner of the upcoming trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will be known as the greatest heavyweight of all time. This story between the two juggernauts of the division began two years ago when “DC” knocked Miocic out and captured the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Then, in 2019, Miocic returned the favor and reclaimed the belt – setting up a third and almost certainly final fight between them at UFC 252.

Mike Perry’s ex-wife Danielle Nickerson allegedly tried to obtain a protective order against the UFC welterweight for threatening physical harm approximately a year ago. Nickerson, 28, sought a protective order against her ex-husband, 28, which was denied after she “failed to allege facts sufficient,” according to court documents.

UFC president Dana White suggested a matchup between middleweight contenders Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier to determine the next title challenger. Whittaker is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Darren Till at UFC Fight Island 3, while Cannonier is coming off of three straight TKO wins over Jack Hermansson, Anderson Silva, and David Branch. The UFC middleweight title will be on the line in September when champion Israel Adesanya takes on Paulo Costa in the main event of UFC 253, and White and the UFC matchmakers are already thinking about who will get the next title shot.

For quite some time now, both Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre have shown their interest in a possible match. Yet, the UFC shut the idea down and now it is expected if Khabib Nurmagomedov fights again it will be against Justin Gaethje.
