Jones (25-1 MMA) will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since July’s UFC 239 event in Las Vegas, where he etched out a split decision victory over Thiago Santos.

Valentina Shevchenko put her women’s flyweight title on the line against Katlyn Chookagian in the co-headliner of tonight’s UFC 247 event. Shevchenko (18-3 MMA) had gone a perfect 4-0 since dropping to flyweight entering tonight’s event. She captured the promotions 125lbs title at UFC 231 with a unanimous decision victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and had since defended her strap against Jessica Eye (KO) and Liz Carmouche (decision).

A heavyweight bout featuring former title challenger Derrick Lewis against Ilir Latifi took place on the main card of tonight’s UFC 247 event. Lewis (22-7 MMA) was most previously seen in action at November’s UFC 244 event, where he picked up a split decision victory over Blagoy Ivanov. ‘The Black Beast’ entered UFC 247 having gone 3-3 over his past six Octagon appearances, which included wins over Alexander Volkov and Francis Ngannou.

The UFC will head to Portland, Oregon on April 11 for a UFC Fight Night event headlined by a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. The promotion announced the news on their official website earlier this evening. The event will take place at the Moda Center.

Din Thomas has released another video in which he impersonates Stephen A Smith, this in light of the ESPN analysts ongoing feud with Joe Rogan. The UFC commentator, Rogan, had taken issue with some of the comments made by Smith following Conor McGregor’s TKO victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

Prior to his win over Santos, ‘Bones’ had scored a decision victory over Anthony Smith at UFC 235, which was preceded by a TKO victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232.

In the co-main event of UFC 247, Chookagian will take on current flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko and will do so as a massive underdog. She is hovering around +700. But, that isn’t slowing her confidence, as she says she is better everywhere than ‘The Bullet’ and will dominate Saturday’s fight.

UFC welterweight James Krause has decided to step up on 24 hours notice to fight Trevin Giles in a middleweight bout on the UFC 247 undercard. Giles was supposed to fight Antonio Arroyo on the preliminary card for UFC 247. Arroyo successfully made weight on the scale but afterwards was transported to a hospital after suffering a brutal weight cut, temporarily leaving Giles without an opponent. That is until Krause decided to step up on short notice to save the fight.

The grudge match between Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington was apparently close to happening once again. Ever since Covington won the interim title over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 he had been calling out Tyron Woodley for a fight.

Former UFC welterweight rivals Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler have recently been training together at Hard Knocks 365 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. MacDonald has been on vacation this week with his family in Florida and decided to drop into Hard Knocks to get some training in with head coach Henri Hooft. While he was there, MacDonald got some training in with his long-time rival Lawler.

There’s recently been a lot of buzz surrounding a crossover showdown between three-division boxing champ Claressa Shields and two-division UFC champion Amanda Nunes. Shields has even suggested she’d be willing to fight Nunes under the MMA rule-set. The boxing champ appears to have been serious about those comments.

Many fight fans were hoping that, win or lose, Donald Cerrone would make bank for his UFC 246 fight MMA megastar Conor McGregor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the fan veteran veteran received much more than his typical fight purse Responding to a fan in the replies to a recent Instagram post, Cerrone revealed that he didn’t receive any pay-per-view points for his fight with McGregor, and only received his standard “flat money.”

Alex Hernandez was not impressed by the performance Donald Cerrone put forth in his 40-second UFC 246 loss to Conor McGregor — and that’s putting it lightly. Hernandez, who was knocked out by Cerrone in early 2019, went after his former foil during a recent scrum with the media, accusing the fan favorite veteran of quitting against McGregor.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe he will fight Nate Diaz because he claims the superstar is retired. Poirier has been calling out Diaz for months on social media, but so far nothing has come from it. On Friday, Poirier did a Q&A session with fans on his Twitter, and one fan asked him if he would like to fight Diaz at International Fight Week in July in Las Vegas.
