A middleweight bout between Derek Brunson and Ian Heinisch kicked off tonight’s UFC 241 main card from Anaheim. Brunson (19-7 MMA) was most recently seen in action at May’s UFC Fight Night event in Ottawa, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Elias Theodorou. That improved Derek’s record to 3-2 over his past five Octagon appearances.

The Octagon returns to Anaheim this evening for UFC 241, a pay-per-view event headlined by a heavyweight title fight rematch between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Cormier and Miocic first met at UFC 226 in July of 2018, with ‘DC’ emerging victorious by way of first round knockout, thus claiming the promotions heavyweight championship.

Cody Garbrandt injured, out until 2020

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is injured and will not be able to return to the Octagon until 2020 after he undergoes surgery. Garbrandt tore a tendon in a training session last week and he will not be able to resume training until he has surgery and recovers from it. He was previously on track to return in late 2019, but will now be sidelined until next year.

TMZ reported that this incident occurred when the man refused a sample of McGregor’s popular Proper No. Twelve whiskey. Khabib Nurmagomedov, the reigning UFC lightweight champ and McGregor fiercest rival, was not impressed by what he saw in this video.
