Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (14-4 MMA) underwent ‘unexpected’ neck surgery on Wednesday.

The All American” announced the news on his official Instagram page.

“Kind of an unexpected neck surgery yesterday,” Weidman wrote on his Instagram. “I’ll explain soon, but I’m all good, and I’ll be healthy soon.”

Weidman had previously underwent surgery to repair a herniated disk in June of 2016.

The former middleweight kingpin, Weidman, described his recent procedure as a “disk replacement surgery”.

After starting his career 13-0, capturing the UFC’s middleweight title in the process, Chris Weidman has since gone 1-4.

In his most recent effort at November’s UFC 230 event in New York, Weidman suffered a knockout loss to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

The 34-year-old has suffered stoppage losses to Luke Rockhold, Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi during his recent 1-4 stretch.

Weidman’s lone victory in his past five fights came against soon to be title challenger Kelvin Gastelum, who he submitted via arm-triangle choke.
