Pros react to potential Conor McGregor vs. Cowboy Cerrone fight
It appears that a lightweight fight against Cowboy Cerrone could be next for former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor.
The former 155-pound title challenger, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (35-11 MMA), returned to the lightweight division yesterday evening following a ten-fight stint at welterweight.
Cerrone took on rising prospect Alexander Hernandez at last night’s UFC event in Brooklyn, emerging victorious by way of second-round TKO.
Shortly following Cowboy’s impressive victory, former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor took to Twitter where he issued the following statement.
“For a fight like that Donald, I’ll fight you. Congratulations.” – Conor McGregor
Donald Cerrone has been calling for a fight with the Irish superstar for some time now, and it appears that he is finally going to get his wish.

With that said, the news of a potential “Cowboy” vs. “Mystic Mac” matchup did not sit well with everyone.
UFC lightweights Kevin Lee, Dustin Poirier and Al Iaquinta were less than thrilled by the news.
Conor McGregor was last seen in action at October’s UFC 229 event, where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his bid to recapture the promotions 155-pound title.
