Rafael Dos Anjos fires back at Conor McGregor’s post UFC Rochester comments
On March 5, 2016, we saw the then UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor take on Nate Diaz in an unexpected welterweight meeting. Originally, this was supposed to be a champion vs champion bout pitting the Irishman against the lightweight king, Rafael Dos Anjos.
Unfortunately for one of Brazil’s finest, he would end up suffering a broken foot that forced him out of the bout with just a week prior to fight night. Because of this, his opportunity to get his hands on McGregor has since passed… and his would-be adversary knows it.
Following Dos Anjos’ big fourth-round submission (arm-triangle) rebound victory over Kevin Lee at UFC Rochester this past Saturday night, McGregor took to Twitter where he would remind us all that he and ‘RDA’ were supposed to clash three years ago.
In response to a comment saying “Can’t help but think back to that lost chance against Conor McGregor and what could have been,” McGregor would say; “I guess we’ll never know, cos he bottled it, with a broken toe. Lol my bad, I didn’t know it was actually just a bruise.”
The former 155-pound champion turned welterweight contender in Dos Anjos wouldn’t take too kindly to this as he’s been one to always respond to McGregor when he takes aim at him.
That broken foot is my working tool.Making fun as a fellow fighter shows the person you r.Before sleep you wonder what life would’ve been if that fight happened and I made you eat that foot.Enjoy your fortune drinkin that brownwatercheapwhiskey without making fun of my misfortune https://t.co/ExIiBSH2IL

“That broken foot is my working tool.Making fun as a fellow fighter shows the person you r.Before sleep you wonder what life would’ve been if that fight happened and I made you eat that foot.Enjoy your fortune drinkin that brownwatercheapwhiskey without making fun of my misfortune” Dos Anjos tweeted.
Ironically, since McGregor’s last fight where he suffered defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, he would claim that he entered into the fight with a broken foot of his own.
McGregor’s recent suspension following that fight at UFC 229 due to post-fight brawl has been lifted as of last month and he is now able to return to action should he see fit.
It’s unlikely that we’ll ever end up seeing Rafael Dos Anjos get the match-up re-scheduled at this point… but we’ve seen crazier things happen in MMA.
