Report | Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon Moraes bantamweight title fight being targeted for UFC 238

By Tom Taylor - March 25, 2019

According to Henry Cejudo, who appeared on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, he and Marlon Moraes are likely to collide for the vacant bantamweight title at UFC 238. The card goes down on June 8 in Chicago.

Marlon Moraes also confirmed this plan on the show.

Until very recently, the UFC bantamweight belt was held by TJ Dillashaw. Unfortunately, one of Dillashaw’s recent drug tests turned up an “adverse” finding, which prompted Dillashaw to relinquish the title.

Marlon Moraes, who is the former World Series of Fighting bantamweight champion, is currently on a four-fight win-streak composed of stoppage wins over Raphael Assuncao, Jimmie Rivera and Aljamain Sterling, and a decision defeat of John Dodson. His last loss occurred in his UFC debut, when he gave up a razor-close decision to Assuncao. Moraes is 22-5-1 overall.

Henry Cejudo last fought in January, when he welcomed TJ Dillashaw to the flyweight division. Cejudo dashed Dillashaw’s plans of capturing the flyweight belt in less than a minute. He’s 14-2 overall.

While Cejudo’s planned move up to the bantamweight division sounds a bit like a death sentence for the long-struggling flyweight division he rules, he assured on Helwani’s show that the division is not going anywhere.

If Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes do indeed battle for bantamweight gold at UFC 238 this June, who do you think will come out on top?
