Report | Megan Anderson vs Felicia Spencer set to go down at UFC Rochester

By Drake Riggs - March 26, 2019

Things are finally starting to happen within the UFC’s women’s featherweight division as evidenced by the recent signing of Invicta FC champion, Felicia Spencer (6-0).

It was seemingly just a matter of time for the unbeaten homegrown Invicta talent to wind up on a big stage here sooner or later, it was just a matter of when and where.

Following Spencer’s win over Helena Kolesnyk at Invicta FC 30, a fight between herself and former champion, Megan Anderson (9-3) set itself up as the two met in the cage. Rather than coming to the UFC after that fight, Spencer would go on to defeat Pam Sorenson to capture the vacant title.

However, the time is now for two of the world’s best featherweights to meet as Kamloops Matters and The Daily Telegraph are reporting that a bout between the former champions is on for UFC Rochester on May 18.

Australia’s Anderson entered the UFC officially in June 2018 at UFC 225 when she took on former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm. Unfortunately for Anderson, she would come out on the wrong side of a unanimous decision.

Her sophomore appearance would go a lot better despite its somewhat controversial ending when she would earn a first-round TKO over Cat Zingano at UFC 232.

When it comes to two natural 145-pound fighters facing off in the UFC, this will actually be the first bout that features two competitors that haven’t fought in any lower weight divisions.

With the addition of Megan Anderson vs Felicia Spencer, UFC Rochester now has seven fights in total. The previously announced six can be seen below. Stay tuned as more will be revealed in the coming weeks.
