Horrible news has come out of Hawaii that UFC flyweight and season 26 of The Ultimate Fighter contestant, Rachael Ostovich was attacked and hospitalized recently.

TMZ was first to report the news out of Honolulu and does not say specifically when the attack was to have happened but does say that Ostovich is believed to have suffered a broken orbital bone. Even more unfortunate, the report states that the attacker is “someone close to her”.

*UPDATE: The incident took place in a Waianae residence in the very early morning of November 18. MMAFighting reports that the suspect is believed to be Ostovich’s husband Arnold Berdon.

Update on Rachael Ostovich situation from the Honolulu PD:

The Honolulu PD has opened a second-degree assault investigation for an incident involving a 27-year-old female victim and a 27-year-old male suspect.  The victim and suspect were arguing prior to the assault. 1/2

The victim suffered head injuries and was treated at a hospital. The incident took place at a Waianae residence on November 18 at 2 a.m.  The investigation is continuing, and no arrest has been made at this time.

Earlier this month, Ostovich had her next bout officially booked as she is set to take on Paige VanZant at UFC Brooklyn on January 18 for the UFC’s first show on ESPN+.

As of right now, there is no official word on whether or not the fight is still on but obviously, if the reports are true and Ostovich has suffered these uncalled-for injuries, she will very likely no longer be able to fight at that date.

Ostovich currently holds a 4-4 professional record and was one of Invicta FC’s standout prospects at 125-pounds before getting the call to compete on TUF 26. The season would crown the inaugural UFC champion of the division and although she tasted defeat at the hands of top-seeded former flyweight No. 1, Barb Honchak, Ostovich was a bright spot among many with potential.

In Ostovich’s UFC debut at the TUF 26 Finale in December 2017, she defeated fellow castmate Karine Gevorgyan via first-round submission (armbar) in just a minute and 40 seconds.

The Hawaiian made her sophomore UFC appearance in July at the TUF 27 Finale when she took on another fellow castmate from her season in Montana De La Rosa. After a competitive back and forth battle through two rounds, De La Rosa would find the submission late in the third to get the tap over Ostovich by rear-naked-choke.
