Tyron Woodley reacts to Colby Covington’s antics in Las Vegas

By Tom Taylor - March 1, 2019

Colby Covington has arrived in Las Vegas to take in the UFC 235 card — particularly the co-headlining welterweight title fight between his rivals Tyron Woodley and Kamaru Usman.

Since arriving in Sin City, Covington has definitely made his presence known. He crashed Usman’s open workout… he harassed UFC President Dana White at blackjack table… he even threatened to destroy the UFC’s boss’s car.

Speaking at a pre-fight scrum this week, Tyron Woodley addressed these antics from Colby Covington.

“Colby had two chances,” Woodley said. “He was supposed to fight me in September, he was supposed to fight me this fight, so I mean, are you guys tired of the shenanigans with Colby? Who really even cares anymore?

“[Darren] Till was probably stiffest competition out of all the welterweights, Usman is a better fighter and tougher fighter than Colby. So me beating Colby is just for you guys, just for the fans, just to shut him up.”

As Tyron Woodley mentions above, he still plans to fight Colby Covington. From the sounds of it, however, a fight with Covington could be his last in the welterweight division. At least for awhile.

“I’m going to fight this fight, I’m going to beat up on Colby after that, then I’m going after the middleweight belt,” he said.

“I’m going after the middleweight belt. If I’m successful at grabbing the middleweight belt, then I’ll sit down with my coaches. It’ll have been one hell of a year. I’ve defended twice at welterweight, captured the middleweight belt.

“I’ve wiped out the division at this point in time,” he concluded. “It gives the welterweight some time to shuffle a little bit more [if I move to middleweight].”

Who do you think will come out on top when Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley finally fight?
