UFC 237 Fight Card and Rumors

While the fight card is not close to complete, it does already feature some notable names including former UFC champions Anderson Silva, BJ Penn and Jose Aldo.

UFC 237 is slated to be headlined by a women’s strawweight contest featuring reigning division champion Rose Namajunas taking on top contender Jessica Andrade.

Rose Namajunas (8-3 MMA) has not competed since April’s UFC 223 event, where she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk for a second time to retain her strawweight title.

Meanwhile, Jessica Andrade was last seen in action at September’s UFC 228 event, where she scored a sensational one-punch knockout victory over Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Unless the card experiences any major additions, it is expected that Jose Aldo will take on Alexander Volkanovski in the evenings co-main event.

“The King of Rio”, Aldo, is coming off back-to-back TKO victories over Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano.

As for Volkanovski, the Australian standout was last seen in action at UFC 232 this past December, where he scored a TKO victory over former division title challenger Chad Mendes.

Also featured on the UFC 237 card is a middleweight bout between former division kingpin Anderson Silva and Jared Cannonier.

Silva is coming off a decision loss to Israel Adesanya in his most recent effort at UFC 234.

Meanwhile, Cannonier most recently competed at November’s UFC 230 event, where he earned a knockout victory over former WSOF champ David Branch.

If that wasn’t enough to get you interested, UFC 237 will also feature a lightweight scrap between fan favorites BJ Penn and Clay Guida.

The former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion, BJ Penn, was last seen in action at UFC 232 where he suffered the first submission loss of his career to Ryan Hall.

As for “The Carpenter”, Guida was most recently seen in action at UFC 225, where he suffered a first round submission loss to BJJ wizard Charles Oliveira.
