UFC 239 | Jorge Masvidal: ‘I want to break Ben Askren’s f*ckin’ face’
The recent string of UFC main events dating back to March 9 have all been incredibly memorable. The second in that row of fights took place in London, England as two top welterweights went to battle.
In one corner, it was a homecoming for the Brit, Darren Till who was looking to rebound off of his first career loss. Standing across from him was an also rebounding Jorge Masvidal. In the end, the returning ‘Gamebred’ would score a devastating two-fight losing streak-snapping knockout in round two.
Now arguably a fight away from a title shot, Jorge Masvidal is set to try and hand former Bellator and ONE Championship king, Ben Askren his first career loss when they meet at UFC 239 on July 6.
As the American Top Team product anticipates the clash… It’s safe to say he isn’t the biggest fan of his opponent.
“I don’t like this dude, man,” Masvidal said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “I want to break his f*ckin’ face, I want to break his f*ckin’ rib cage. And I don’t want to knock him out early on. I just want to torture that guy, man. If I get the chance to torture that guy for 14 minutes and 50 seconds before I stop ’em… That’s what I’m gonna do, man.
“I just don’t like this dude. I met him a long time ago, he’s a f*ckin’ prick, man. There’s not too many people that I genuinely dislike – he’s one of them. If I was to see him right now… Probably wouldn’t be too friendly of a greeting, you know?”
Masvidal would continue on briefly stating that Askren’s “that type of p*ssy” as he referenced how he talks about what happens in training sessions.
The top-ranked welterweight showdown is just one of several great fights on the big 2019 International Fight Week event.
