UFC Rochester bonuses revealed
On Saturday night, UFC Rochester captured the attention of fight fans all over the world.
The main event of this ESPN+ card saw “The Motown Phenom” Kevin Lee make his welterweight debut, taking on former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. But, the fight that stole the show was the main event of the prelims, which saw Aspen Ladd defeat Sijara Eubanks by decision in a thrilling war.
This UFC Rochester scrap brought the fans to their feet and the two women were both awarded $50,000 ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus checks for their efforts. Eubanks started out the fight taking Ladd down and ground and pounding her. But, in the second round, the undefeated prospect dominated the round and almost finished the fight. However, the third and final round is what really put this fight over the edge. The two engaged in phone booth fighting until the final horn sounded and the fight was over.
Meanwhile, the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses for UFC Rochester went to Michel Pereira and Grant Dawson.
The Brazilian Pereira was making his UFC debut and was hyped up for his wild style and crazy finishes, most recently on display in Road FC in Korea. In his Octagon debut, he didn’t disappoint, as he tried Showtime kicks, summersault kicks, and superman punches among other flashy moves. Ultimately, a flying knee-punch combo knocked out Danny Roberts to give Pereira his first UFC win and a $50,000 bonus.
Dawson, meanwhile, simply dominated TUF 27 winner Mike Trizano, giving him his first professional loss. The 25-year-old outwrestled Trizano the entire first round and in the second, got ahold of his back and ended the fight by submission. It was a dominating performance for the Contender Series alum who is now 2-0 inside the Octagon.
