Urijah Faber considering MMA return, has potential opponent in mind
Former WEC featherweight champion and long-time UFC bantamweight contender Urijah Faber is reportedly considering a return to MMA.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show on Monday, Faber divulged that he is still being tested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), and that he was actually offered two fights last year.
He says the UFC approached him about featherweight matchups with Cub Swanson and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. He considered accepting both, but ultimately refrained. That being said, he is still interested in returning to the cage under the right circumstances.
Aaron Bronsteter of TSN has the details:
One fight that Urijah Faber is apparently interested in is a showdown with his former student TJ Dillashaw.
Unfortunately, Dillashaw recently ran into some drug testing trouble. This incident forced the end of his reign as the UFC bantamweight champion. He’s been suspended for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), and could face an even heftier punishment from USADA. So, if Faber wants this fight, he will likely have to wait for it.
Urijah Faber retired in late 2016 after a decision victory over fellow veteran Brad Pickett. This win was preceded by a pair of decision losses to Jimmie Rivera and Dominick Cruz.
If Faber does return to the Octagon in 2019, who would you like to see him fight?
