VIDEO | Colby Covington gets into scuffle with Ali Abdelaziz, Kamaru Usman
New UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman and former interim champion Colby Covington have an extremely heated rivalry. So heated in fact, that they nearly came to blows inside a casino in Las Vegas on Sunday.
In fact, punches were actually thrown in this heated encounter — though not by either fighter. Instead, it was Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz who let loose a strike. Usman even seemed to be holding his manager back.
See the video of this wild skirmish, complete with Abdelaziz letting a fist fly, at the top of this article.
“Ali f**king swung on me,” Colby Covington can be heard telling somebody on the phone shortly after he, Abdelaziz and Usman were separated.
Kamaru Usman fought on Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 235, delivering an absolutely flawless performance en route to a unanimous decision victory over long-time UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
Colby Covington, who was initially expected to get a shot a Woodley before Usman, is now expected to be the new champion’s first title challenger.
Needless to say, the pair really don’t seem to like each other, so there is likely to be plenty of drama heading into this grudge match.
At present, it’s not clear if the UFC or the Nevada State Athletic Commission will discipline Colby Covington, Kamaru Usman or Ali Abdelaziz for this altercation. Stay tuned for further updates on the situation as they emerge.
