“Although this is a very difficult time for me and my family, I felt that this fight in January was important. I felt that it was extremely important to me to follow through with it and not only for me but first for my daughter and other people that might be going through similar situations. I want to take a stand against domestic violence and show others that it’s okay to come out and speak about it and not be quieted.
I feel like I have to do this. This is something that can’t be taken away from me. I want to use this big worldwide UFC platform to show people that…don’t let anyone or anything come between you and your dreams and your career.”
It’s been a rather unpleasant last few weeks for UFC flyweight prospect Rachael Ostovich, to say the least, however, she will still be making the walk to fight in January.
After a horrific domestic violence incident between her and her husband Arnold Berdon, Ostovich was initially removed from her January 26 bout at UFC Brooklyn opposite Paige VanZant due to the injuries that she suffered. One of which including a broken orbital bone.
However, after getting a second opinion, Ostovich was cleared and is still going to be competing at the beginning of the new year.
The fight will act as Rachael Ostovich’s ninth in her pro career and her third with the UFC.
Since joining the promotion off of season 26 of The Ultimate Fighter, the former Invicta FC stand out has gone 1-1 with a win over Karine Gevorgyan by first-round armbar and a loss to Montana De La Rosa her last time out.
UFC Brooklyn will be the first UFC event ever held on ESPN+.
