“You and Dominick Cruz commentating together? It doesn’t get any better,” Travis Barker said to Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience. “He beat the sh*t out of me a couple times. We used to sponsor him a little bit, with Famous. Like, he used to walk out with Famous stuff when UFC didn’t have Reebok gear.

“And he would come down and train. Because I would train with this one guy, Josh over here in Woodland Hills. And [Cruz] said, ‘Trav, I’m gonna be in town. I’m gonna come train with you,’ I was like, ‘Okay, cool,’

“Little did I know it would be Dom tossing me around. Like oh my gosh, man. It was so difficult. He’d be like, ‘Try to sleep me. Try to knock me out,’

“So I’m giving my all,” Barker continued. “And you know when you’re swinging in the air and you’re not landing, it’s actually more tiresome than when you’re hitting somebody. So I’m swinging in the air, he’s like on the side of me all of a sudden. Like, he’s so quick with footwork. And then I’m wrestled to the ground and it’s just a wrap every time.”

Former UFC and WEC bantamweight king Dominick Cruz has been notoriously known for his incredibly competitive spirit. Surely which could be a trait that helped him become as successful as he has.

So when famous drummer Travis Barker got the opportunity to train with Cruz, he wasn’t sure what he was in for. But he quickly found out.

For Cruz, he currently is recovering from a recent shoulder injury that removed him from his scheduled bout with John Lineker at UFC 233 in January.

His last fight came at UFC 207 in December 2016, but since then ‘The Dominator’ has been able to keep himself with analyst and commentary work and even just got his own new show on ESPN alongside former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez called Unlocking Victory.
