Wellington Turman signs with the UFC, replaces John Phillips against Karl Roberson at UFC Sacramento
There is a new welterweight on the UFC roster. The promotion has signed Brazilian prospect Wellington Turman to fill a spot at UFC Sacramento. The 22-years-old fighter stepped in to replace John Phillips against Karl Roberson on the events preliminary card. Wellington Turman is one of the top guys on the Brazilian MMA scene. With 15 wins and only 2 losses on his professional record, he currently rides a 4-win streak. In his last appearance, he submitted UFC and Contender Series vet Marcio “Lyoto” Alexandre Jr. with a first round rear-naked choke.
After a failed experiment at the light heavyweight division on a short notice loss to Glover Teixeira, Roberson is returning to the middleweight division to regain his mommentum. “Baby K” has won 2 of 3 inside the division, and he’s looking to add another win to his resume that currently displays 7 wins and 2 losses.
UFC Sacramento will be taking place at July 13 at the Golden1 Center, Sacramento, California.
