Zubaira Tukhugov, one of the fighters who attacked Conor McGregor, boasts about it on social media

On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 229, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his title with a dominant, fourth-round submission win over former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor. Unfortunately, that’s not where the violence ended.

Moments after the fight ended, Khabib Nurmagomedov leapt over the cage and attacked Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, which sparked a massive brawl between his and McGregor’s teams. Punches were thrown by both sides, and several arrests were made.

One of the people involved in this unfortunate skirmish was UFC featherweight Zubaira Tukhugov.

Because of his involvement in this ugly, post-fight brawl, Tukhugov’s UFC Moncton scrap with Conor McGregor training partner Artem Lobov has now been cancelled. Worse still, the Khabib Nurmagomedov training partner might well lose his contract with the UFC, not to mention his chances of obtaining a Unite States visa in the future.

Evidently undaunted by the fallout of this infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl with Conor McGregor and his team, Zubaira Tukhugov took to social media post-fight, where he bragged about ‘slapping’ the Irish megastar and assured that McGregor did not land any return fire on him.

“I slapped him as promised,” said Zubaira Tukhugov (translation via Karim Zidan of Bloody Elbow). “I promised to make him answer for his words and I did.”

“Tell everyone who thinks I was hit, where? Where, nothing. Just this cop pushed me away, on the video, as if I was hit, in short. Not missed, was not even close.”

Although Conor McGregor is not pressing charges against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Zubaira Tukhugov, and their compatriots, there could still be legal trouble in their future. And as Ryan Thomas of MMA-Today.com reports on Twitter, this would not be Tukhugov’s first brush with the law. In 2011, he was involved in a shooting in Moscow.
