Fighters most tested by USADA in 2016
Throughout the course of 2016, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency has continued to crack down on performance enhancing drugs used both in competition and out of competition by fighters. This has resulted in quite a bit of fighters being suspended for potential USADA violations, most notably former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
Now, to kick off 2017, a list of the most tested fighters under USADA has been released courtesy of the USADA website. Over the course of the year, 586 UFC fighters were tested for a total of 2291 drug tests.
Fighters who were tested 10 times over the course of 2016 include: Former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, Misha Cirkunov, former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and Urijah Faber.
Fighters who were tested 11 times over the course of 2016 include:
UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, Cris Cyborg, Dan Henderson, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, Yoel Romero, Stipe Miocic, Vitor Belfort and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
Fighters who were tested 12 times over the course of 2016 include: UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, UFC welterweight #1 contender Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.
Fighters who were tested 13 times over the course of 2016 include: Josh Barnett, and former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
Fighters who were tested 14 times over the course of 2016 include: Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.
The one fighter tested 15 times, the most throughout the course of 2016, was former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who recently snapped a 2-fight skid as he defeated Derek Brunson at UFC 208.
