Valerie Letourneau no longer with UFC

By bjpenndotcom - February 16, 2017

Longtime UFC women’s straight fighter Valerie Letournaeu has been on a bit of skid lately, going 0-3 over the course of the past year and a half as she had a 4-fight win streak snapped by Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 in a failed bid at the UFC women’s strawweight title. Following that, Letourneau made the move to flyweight for a ‘UFC Fight Night: Ottawa’ scrap with Joanne Calderwood, where she lost a one-sided fight where she was TKOd in the final round. Most recently, Letourneau dropped a split decision to UFC newcomer Vivaiane Pereira at UFC 206 in a catchweight bout after she was unable to make the contracted 116 pounds.

Now, Letournaeu has taken to social media to reveal that she is no longer with the UFC:

Well! Thank you UFC it's been an awesome experience and many dreams come true. Time for me to look at what's next inside and outside the cage. New chapter starting right now ☝🏼👊🏼!! #UFC #determination #dedication #passion #love #sport #mma #thankyou #ByeByeBoss •••• And don't feel sorry for me! For those who know me for years, you all know and I know that every time I thought the worse was happening, it was to take me to something 10 times better and I feel that this is what's happening. This is best for my health and future. I am good, I am happy, I still love my sport and I still gonna fight if my fans, sponsors and promotion have my back. And if not! I'm still gonna be fine 🙏🏼❤!

Letourneau, who was ranked as the #15 ranked strawweight following her last fight, and given the lack of depth in the UFC’s strawweight division, a few wins on the regional scene and ‘Trouble’ could very well be back in the Octagon.
