Analyst: Floyd Mayweather not so confident in boxing match with Conor McGregor after watching UFC 202?
Conor McGregor found what he was looking for with his redemption win over Nate Diaz at UFC 202. McGregor was able to pick up a majority decision victory after five rounds of mixed martial arts fighting in the Octagon on August 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Following UFC 202, undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather put an end to all the talks of the heavily rumored boxing match with McGregor.
“I tried to make the fight happen between me and Conor McGregor,” Mayweather said in an interview with Fight Hype. “We wasn’t able to make the fight happen, so we must move on.”
In an interesting look at the situation from the outside, FS1’s Skip Bayless took to his “Undisputed” show to talk about what he feels changed in Mayweather’s mind to give up on the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match so quickly.
“I never quite trust what Floyd says, only what Floyd ends up doing,” Bayless said. “This could be potentially a ploy to hide what will become a Floyd vs. Conor McGregor boxing match — could be.
“This is again, my opinion from a distance. I think Floyd thought about this. Floyd is very cerebral when it comes to boxing. I think he studied Conor McGregor as a boxer because Conor McGregor can box in his MMA fights and he mostly boxed Nate Diaz in the one that I sat ringside on, their rematch obviously and he showed me extreme boxing skills, Conor McGregor. He’s a southpaw, but he’s ambidextrous and I liked his footwork and I really liked his chin man. He’s got an iron jaw, not a glass one, but an iron one.
Mayweather won’t fight McGregor. “He studied him & started to think, ‘Maybe I couldn’t school him the way I thought I could.'” -Skip Bayless pic.twitter.com/3vzcTEu0A2

“I’m guessing that Floyd has studied him and started to think, ‘You know what? Maybe I couldn’t school him like I thought I could. Maybe I couldn’t just run rings around him. Maybe he’s just crazy enough to hang in there with me.’ And we spoke of diminishing legacies in our first topic. That would diminish Floyd’s legacy. If Conor McGregor even hung in with him and made it a battle. And I’m thinking that Floyd finally decided, ‘Meh, he wants a lot of money. I don’t know if I need this aggravation right now. I think I’m going to steer clear.’ That’s just my gut feeling. Again, now, if the money gets to X dollars, Floyd will try it. But, Conor McGregor was talking about ‘Floyd’s trying to scrounge up my $100 million from the Showtime executives. So, maybe it’s just too rich even for Floyd’s blood to get to there.”
