Conor McGregor explains why single discipline fighters would be “killed” in fight

By bjpenndotcom - April 28, 2017

Myself and @sbgcharlestown have been working together on unrestricted, unarmed fighting, since we are kids. Not much will change when I fight under the famed, yet very limited, Queensbury rules. No disrespect to single discipline fighters, from boxing to kicking to grappling, just know that understanding one style of fighting is simply not enough. You are lying to yourself. You are easily dismantled in a true fight. A fight with no rules to protect you. In a straight fight, you do not possess enough tools to keep you alive. You will be dismantled and killed. Like the late, great Bruce Lee once said: "When you are talking about fighting, as it is, with no rules, well then baby, you'd better train every part of your body"

Several months ago, when talks of a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather fight began to pick up steam, the UFC champion addressed the combat sports community’s concerns over a mixed martial artist’s ability to compete with arguably the greatest boxer in the game today.

McGregor explained that MMA is a game of ‘spinning plates’ where he is constantly spinning a Jiu-Jitsu plate, a boxing plate, a wrestling plate, and many others, when preparing for his MMA fights. McGregor pointed out that if he were able to focus solely on boxing ahead of a fight with Floyd Mayweather, he would be prepared for the challenge ahead of him.

In a new social media post, McGregor explained why single discipline fighters, with no knowledge or skills in other aspects of fighting, would be mauled in a normal fight.
