Big news was released on Wednesday by UFC President Dana White.

White appeared on “The Herd” and announced the highly anticipated return of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Rousey will meet the current champion, Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30 in a five-round title fight.

White said that this is a giant opportunity for Amanda Nunes.

“Amanda has been ready to fight whoever we wanted her fight,” White said. “She was ready to defend her title against whoever. And, obviously, you know for somebody like Amanda who beat Miesha Tate. Miesha Tate has been the second best fighter in the world for seven years behind Rousey. Miesha Tate is awesome. She went in and she destroyed Miesha Tate.

“So, for her coming off a fight like that and now having the opportunity to fight Ronda Rousey, huge for Amanda.

White was asked by host Colin Cowherd, “What if Rousey loses?”

“Well, I mean, people win and lose,” White stated. “It happens. It’s the sport.”

Cowherd then asks, “Do you think it would be her last fight [if she loses]?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know,” White said. “I mean, when you talk about somebody, you gotta see the fight first. How did the fight go? what type of fight was it? Was it an absolute war? She loses by split decision or anything like that or gets caught or whatever. You have to see the fight before you can determine whether you think somebody should or would retire.”
