Tough Guy Tuesday: Gino Odjick
In this week’s segment of “Tough Guy Tuesday” we feature former National Hockey League enforcer Gino Odjick.
Gino Odjick began his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks during the 1990-1991 season.
Odjick would play eight seasons with the Canucks, where he managed to tally 46 goals, this while protecting Vancouver’s star sniper Pavel Bure.
Gino would play a total of 12 seasons in the NHL, finishing his career with the New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and lastly the Montreal Canadiens.
In his 605 career NHL games, Odjick posted a remarkable 2,567 penalty minutes.
In early 2015, Gino was diagnosed with a heart disease called amyloidosis. Doctor’s initially gave Odjick a year to live but the former Canuck tough guy has defied the odds and continues to improve.
Gino’s heart is now operating at about 58% and doctor’s now believe he will live at least another three years, if not more.
