Travis Browne’s coach explains Fabricio Werdum vs. Edmond Tarverdyan scuffle

In the co-main event of UFC 203 earlier this month, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum squared off against Travis Browne in a highly anticipated rematch.

Going into the fight, Werdum was very open about the fact that the fight was a big one for his career. After returning to the UFC and going on a 6-fight win streak that saw him claim the UFC heavyweight championship, Werdum was knocked out cold by Stipe Miocic, which resulted in him losing his heavyweight strap.

In his fight with Browne, Werdum cemented his place at the top of the UFC’s heavyweight division as he decisively won the fight via unanimous decision, dominating Browne over the course of three rounds.

Following the fight however, Werdum was involved in a brief scuffle with Browne’s head coach, Edmond Tarverdyan inside the Octagon. Footage of the incident shows Tarverdyan saying something to Werdum, which prompted ‘Vai Calvao’ to front kick the Glendale Fight Club coach in the stomach. Before Tarverdyan was able to attempt an attack of his own, the referee stepped in and separated the men before the situation escalated even more than it already had.
