VIDEO | Anderson Silva reflects on win over Derek Brunson
Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva picked up his first official win since 2012 at UFC 208 over the weekend. However, Silva’s win did not come without controversy as many believed the judges unanimous decision could have gone in favor of his opponent Derek Brunson.
Following the fight on Saturday night, Silva spoke with UFC’s Megan Olivi on the judge’s decision and his future.
“I think the judge gave good points for, I think I move more, I attack more and I think for this I win. I don’t know, I’m just so happy,” Silva said. “First of all, because I fight in New York. New York is the same, my second house. And second, because I love fighting. I love UFC and I love my job.”
In his post-fight Octagon interview, Silva said that he knew he was getting too old to fight and that the younger fighters coming up are faster than he is but he simply loves to fight. Some thought that Silva may have been leaning towards the decision of retiring from the sport but made it clear that he just wants to continue fighting.
“I have maybe couple, four, or five fights (left on UFC contract). I just waiting for my next challenge. I go to my home for my family and wife, baby I love you,” Silva said giving his wife a shoutout. And, just waiting for my next challenge.”
