VIDEO | Cris Cyborg and coach have an intense method of warming up for a fight
Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 219, Cris Cyborg defended the UFC women’s featherweight title with a win over former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. While Cyborg was very impressive in this fight, however, she was not able to finish the durable Holm. Instead, Holm hung in there for five, fun rounds, and even landed a few noteworthy shots on the seemingly unstoppable Cyborg.
As it turns out, however, Cyborg, was absorbing big shots before her bout with Holm even started. On Saturday night, the champ shared a video to Instagram, which shows her coach Jason Parillo warming her up with a big slap to the face. See it at the top of this post!
With her defeat of Holly Holm, Cris Cyborg improved to an insane 19-1 overall. Her four most recent wins have occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where she first stopped Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg in 140-pound catchweight bouts, then defeated Tonya Evinger to win the UFC women’s featherweight strap, and of course, bested Holm to defend it.
Having lost to Cyborg, Holm is now 11-4 overall. Before coming up short to the champ, she knocked out Bethe Correia with a beautiful head-kick. This win was preceded by losses to Valentina Shevchenko and Miesha Tate, and her famous 2015 knockout of Ronda Rousey.
Going forward, Cyborg has her sights set on a battle with Megan Anderson, though UFC President Dana White assures she’ll fight bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes next. Who do you want to see Cris Cyborg fight next?
