VIDEO | Daniel Cormier comments on if he still wants another fight with Jon Jones
Just when we thought the saga between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones had come to an end, there was another twist thrown into the mix.
Following the outcome of their UFC 214 UFC light heavyweight title fight where Jones became the first opponent to KO and finish Cormier, Jones was flagged for the second time by USADA for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation. Both Jones’ A and B samples tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol and the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) overturned Jones’ win to a no-contest. With that, Cormier said that UFC President Dana White told him that he would also be reinstated as the UFC light heavyweight champion.
Cormier recently released a very powerful and classy statement regarding Jones and his situation asking his fans to not bash on the former champion while he is down. Although Cormier has shown respect for Jones in this situation, the champ revealed that he still would love another chance to fight his biggest rival in the Octagon again.
“You know, that’s the craziest thing about the whole situation is competitively he’s beaten me twice so, yeah, of course,” Cormier told TMZ Sports. “People think I’m insane for it. You know, they’re like, ‘Well you just got knocked out and lost the first fight.’ But, (explicit) don’t matter to me. I like to fight you know and the issue with that is that we haven’t been able to do it in the best ways, in the ways with the most respect and honor for our craft. And, that would need to be of the utmost importance, is to make sure that everything is even.
“This whole thing is just crazy. It’s unbelievable that this is happening again and that we are in this situation again.”
