Daniel Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson for the second time in his career in last night’s UFC 210 main event, thus retaining his UFC light heavyweight title.
Following the win, Cormier delivered an epic post-fight speech which you can watch in the above video.
“It might be,” Cormier stated when Joe Rogan asked if his nose was broken. “But hey I can’t get cheers so what if I say this will be my last fight. Will you cheer me then? When I am gone? Listen it is fine Joe (Rogan). Boo me! I am getting money and championship belts! What’s up?”
Rogan asked Cormier if he was at all shocked that Anthony Johnson decided to engage with him in wrestling.
“I couldn’t believe that he was actually enforcing the wrestling. So we were ok giving up the first round. It was like ok his round, I didn’t want to take that head kick but I knew that as we went on I would eventually get to him.”
He continued:
“I was kind of thinking that, well, Rumble has that big burst and then he starts to kind of panic. And at the end of the day he is a wrestler, so he went back to what he knows. He took me down twice. So obviously it was working. But you have to keep me down once you get me down.”
“I hope that Anthony Johnson is not actually walking away from this sport. He has so much more to offer to the sport of mixed martial arts other than walking away. People enjoy him. He is a gentlemen. Anthony needs to continue fighting man. That is what he was put on this earth to do.”
Joe Rogan asked “DC” about exchanging words with Jimi Manuwa after the fight.
“I told Jimi to stop pretending he wants to fight me. He don’t want none of this. He knows. You can’t beat me Jimi! Jimi you can come in here with your bare knuckle and punch me, I will eat that. You can’t beat me Jimi. Jimi you can’t beat me! You know it! Don’t lie to yourself. I like Corey Anderson. But you just beat Corey Anderson. Sit down young man!”
Cormier then turned his attention to Jon Jones.
“Who? Who? Who? Is that guy even eligible to fight yet? Well is he eligible to fight yet? Don’t talk to me about a guy who is ineligible. When you get your shit together and you’re ready to fight, I am here waiting for you young man. You know it! I’ve been waiting for two years. You got the first one. But you knew after the first one that we had many coming.”
