VIDEO | Derrick Lewis sidelined due to injury suffered in Travis Browne fight
Ask and you shall receive, Derrick Lewis.
Following a stunning KO victory over Travis Browne in the main event of UFC Fight Night 105 in Halifax, Canada over the weekend, “The Black Beast” told Brian Stann in the post-fight Octagon interview that he didn’t want to hear anything about fighting for the next few months. Lewis stated that with constantly being in training camp, he wasn’t the most pleasant member of the family to be around.
“Like I said before, press the reset button,” Lewis told Stann in the Octagon. “I need a break. Fighting every other month, every two months like that has put me in a bad mood at home with my family. So I just feel like I need some time off. I don’t wanna hear nothing about no fighting in the next three months.”
Lewis posted a video on his humorous Instagram account on Tuesday of him at what appears to be a doctor’s office and says that he has a broken foot.
“You ended up beating him in the second,” the doctor said to Lewis as he was still able to win with suffering a broken foot. “That’s pretty tough, my friend.”
“Nah, I been in tougher fights,” Lewis replied.
“Foot broke. It’s broken,” Lewis then told his followers in the video.
“The Black Beast” is riding a six-fight winning streak in the UFC heavyweight division with only one of the six wins going to decision. “The Black Beast” added Travis Browne to his list of wins over some other big names in the division including Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga and will surely look to get a crack at the heavyweights ranked above him to climb his way to a title shot.
