VIDEO | Fabricio Werdum fought Travis Browne with a fractured foot

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum scored a unanimous decision victory over Hawaiian Travis Browne in the co-headliner of yesterday’s UFC 203 event in Cleveland, Ohio.

The victory marked the second time that Werdum had defeated Browne via decision in the past 30 months, having previously scored a victory over “Hapa” in April of 2014.

The fight was not the most exciting contest in recent memory, however the announcement of the judges decision proved to be quite entertaining.

One of Browne’s coaches was giving Fabricio and earful for his post-fight antics which caused Werdum to snap and throw a front kick that connected to the body.

At the UFC 203 post-fight press conference Werdum spoke about why he went after Browne’s coach Edmund and added that he came in to the contest with a bad foot injury.

“Mom says ‘Never say bad things to nobody,” the former heavyweight champion said at the UFC 203 post-fight press conference. “He started it. I just keep my distance, I don’t want to kick him, I just keep the distance, you know, he’s a boxing coach, and I see in his eyes he wants to punch my face. And I just want to keep the distance. But he comes first. He says a lot of things, a lot of bad things.”

He continued:

“There’s a lot of things happen before my fight (loss to Stipe), but I don’t like to say excuse, Werdum said at the post-fight press conference, per MMA Mania). “Today, today I don’t say to nobody, but I had an injury in my foot. I broke my foot. Not broke my foot, but I had a fracture. I go to doctor, but I want to fight. Two hours before the fight, I go to my room today, and they gave me a shot, an injection because I have a lot of pain in my foot. And that’s it, man, I don’t say nothing, I just want to fight. I know I’m the next one (for title shot).”

Dana White stated the he does not believe Werdum’s UFC 203 performance warrants a rematch with Stipe Miocic.
