Aorigele groin shot

MMA can be a pretty ugly sport. For every slick submission, massive slam, or jaw-dropping knockout, there is an inadvertent eye poke, a clash of heads, or perhaps worst of all, a groin shot.

When it comes to groin shots, a few stand out as the worst of the bunch. There was the one Gabriel Gonzaga landed on Chris Tuchscherer, which left Tuchscherer dry-heaving on the ground in pain. There was the one Frank Trigg landed on Matt Hughes, which Hughes miraculously recovered from. There were the repeated, intentional strikes to the groin absorbed by Joe Son in the Halcyon days of the UFC. And now, there is the kick to the groin shot that China’s Aorigele endured in his Road FC bout with Myung Hyun-Man.

This kick occurred moments into the first round of the pair’s heavyweight scrap – seven seconds in, to be exact. The impact sent the hulking Aorigele careening to the mat, where he writhed in pain in a display that will leave any man who watches clutching his groin, overcome by a strange blend of sympathy and fear.

See the video of this groin kick, which sent Aorigele to the hospital where he is now recovering, at the top of this article.

Luckily, Aorigele seems to be bouncing back well He also wants to assure the world that Hyun-Man’s stomach-churning blow to the gonads was not intentional.

“What’s left now is to return to Road FC after a full recovery, meet Myung Hyun-Man and put on a thrilling match,” Aorigele said in a video posted on YouTube (via MMAJunkie). “Many people might have misunderstood what happened in our match. It was totally an accident. Myung Hyun-Man didn’t do it intentionally.”

What’s the worst groin shot you’ve ever seen in MMA? Does this one take the cake?
