VIDEO | Fired up Colby Covington sends warning to Woodley, ‘Wonderbread’, and others
On Saturday night in Singapore, rising UFC welterweight Colby Covington picked up the biggest win over his career, dominating the UFC’s seventh-ranked welterweight Dong Hyun Kim to a sound, unanimous decision victory.
With this win, Covington improved his current win-streak to four, and established himself as a definite fighter to watch in the stacked UFC welterweight division.
Though not much is known about his next fight at present, Covington wants the world to know that, as long as he’s around, no welterweight is safe. Shortly after his win in Singapore, the rising welterweight took to Instagram with a video that addressed welterweight king Tyron Woodley, two-time title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and pretty much everyone else on the roster.
“This is a message to all my haters, and all my supporters,” Covington said in this video. “The name is Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington, and the name speaks for itself. I came to resurrect the welterweight division. I’m sick of seeing this dude Tyron Woodley take my division and make it look like a joke. I’m sick of seeing Stephen “Wonderbread” Thompson, the karate master…”
“I take every man down just to watch their spirit leave their body,” he continued. “You don’t know what the real grind is like. You don’t know about the trials and tribulations that I’ve been through in my life. You don’t know that I was sleeping on couches and my mom worked three jobs just to put food on the table. So that’s why I take people down. This is Colby “Chaos” Covington’s time, and I’m going to reek havoc on your favorite fighter, and the entire division.”
How far do you think Colby Covington will go in the UFC welterweight division?
