UFC 203 was an odd event. From CB Dollaway having to pull out of his fight with Francimar Barroso after being injured in a freak elevator accident to a near post-fight brawl between Fabricio Werdum’s camp and Travis Browne’s camp.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan had his buddies Eddie Bravo, Brendan Schaub, and Joe Schilling on his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast and streamed a “Fight Companion” episode where the guys watched UFC Fight Night 94, which took place over the weekend. In the episode, Rogan and company touched upon the incident that happened between Team Werdum and Team Browne where Werdum and Browne’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan exchanged words and even got physical where Werdum kicked Tarverdyan away.
“That was real weird after the fight,” Rogan said of the incident. “Edmond was screaming at him. What do you think is gonna happen here?”
“I think there’s a lot of pressure on Edmond because you know it’s like, you gotta win a fight,” Schaub commented. “Travis has moved his whole camp there. He’s looked like pure kaka. There’s a lot riding on this fight, he just lost to Cain, so if you hear him in the corner, there’s desperation. He’s losing his voice and then when that sh-t happens, when you’re fighter loses like that, he was just so furious and he’s an emotional guy, but you’re talking to the number one heavyweight in the world [Werdum] and he’s gonna twist your f—ing face off when you talk to him like that.”
“Werdum is a nice guy too,” Schaub said. “One of the nicest guys in the world. Grand human being. You’re lucky that wasn’t Overeem or something like that.”
Bravo asked the crew if Tarverdyan should have kept his mouth shut in the scope of things.
“Who knows what was said,” Rogan replied. “See, you can’t say that unless you know what was said.”
“I know what you shouldn’t do,” Schaub added. “Is approach a fighter and try to fight him as a coach. We know that. I don’t give a f–k what he said to you.”
“Yeah, super controversial move,” Rogan replied.
