VIDEO | Jorge Masvidal Gives Props to Darren Till But Tells Him UFC Liverpool is Too Soon

When Darren Till got announced as the headliner for UFC Liverpool, patient fans finally had a reason to celebrate. Till would finally return after his destruction of tough-as-they-come Donald Cerrone at UFC Gdansk back in October of last year. Unfortunately, we can’t get too stoked though, he still doesn’t have an opponent. On the long list sits Jorge Masvidal, who’d love to fight Till, but he just can’t make it to the Scouser’s backyard that fast.

“[Darren] Till. I’d love that fight, man. I think the dude is talented. He’s young, he hungry, he stepped up to the plate when he fought Cowboy [Cerrone]. I got nothing but respect for that dude. His performances before that — again, the kid’s good — but when he had his toughest fight, he came, he showed up, he did what he had to do.”

“I would love nothing more than to fight Till, it’s just May 27th is not going to work for me. If it’s in mid-June and up, whenever you want it, Till. I’m there, man. I got nothing but respect for you, but I’m coming home with that W, my brother. I ain’t losing to no British dude, man.” — Jorge Masvidal via MMA Focus.

So far, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson has essentially been ruled out. Now, Jorge Masvidal can’t make the fight that quickly. Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio seem like the most viable options now, but who knows what will go down between now and May 27th. All Darren Till knows is that he’s fighting someone that night in Liverpool and he doesn’t care what who it may be. Kamaru Usmann also hasn’t been booked yet and seems interested in the fight.
