In exactly one month’s time, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos will attempt to reclaim the crown he once owned, when he steps into the cage with reigning champion Stipe Miocic. The two will share the main event spot of UFC 211, in Dallas, Texas.

In advance of this dynamite heavyweight showdown, Dos Santos has shared video of his boxing training. This video is definitive proof that, while he may be a little older than he was when he first captured heavyweight gold, his fearsome punching power has not deteriorated at all. Watch Dos Santos punish the focus mitts in the video at the top of this post.

Dos Santos and Miocic’s UFC 211 fight will be a rematch of a late 2014 war, which Dos Santos won with a hard-fought unanimous decision.

Since then, Dos Santos has fought just twice, having been sidelined for great lengths by injury. In his first fight back from this close defeat of Miocic, he was knocked out by long-time rival Alistair Overeem. In his next fight thereafter, he returned to the win column – and as luck would have it, title contention – with a lopsided decision defeat of the streaking Ben Rothwell.

Miocic, meanwhile, has not lost since his first fight with Dos Santos. Since then, he has scored a dominant, fifth-round TKO of Mark Hunt, a thudding first-round knockout of Andrei Arlovski, and an additional first-round knockout of Fabricio Werdum, which earned him the heavyweight crown. From there, he defended his new title with an action-packed first-round knockout of Alistair Overeem.

UFC 211 will be co-headlined by a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade. The rest of this stacked card, meanwhile, is highlighted by a welterweight battle between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal, a lightweight scrap between Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier, a featherweight fight between Frankie Edgar and Yair Rodriguez, and the UFC debut of former two-division WSOF champ David Branch, who takes on the 19-1 Krzysztof Jotko.

Do you think Junior Dos Santos can land one of these fight-ending blows on Stipe Miocic on May 13? Sound off, PENN Nation!
