VIDEO | Mike Perry goes live with fans in hospital immediately after war with Santiago Ponzinibbio
Rising UFC star Mike Perry and Santiago Ponzinibbio had a war on Saturday night in Winnipeg, Canada on the UFC on Fox 26 main card.
Perry ended up losing for the second time in his professional mixed martial arts career now with an 11-2 record while Ponzinibbio picked up his sixth straight UFC win, improving to a 26-3 professional MMA record.
Perry was taken to the hospital to have some injuries from the fight treated and took to a live Facebook video to talk to some of his fans.
“I didn’t think it was unanimous. And he poked me in the eye once,” said Perry. “It was razor thin. It wasn’t no unanimous decision. That was a motherf**king split decision. I thought I had one and two and then he laid on me in the third and I was tired. I gotta get that cardio right!”
Perry went on and said that this is the game that he chose to be in and feels his peak is still some years away.
“It is what it is. I said I wanna do this for 15 years. That means I gotta go through shit like that so that I can grow,” said Perry. “26, I thought I was in the prime of life but I do say that I won’t be there till I’m 35. 35-years-old, I’ll be prime.
“I appreciate the support. A lot of people texted me today. A lot of people supported and you know if I’m gonna fail, I’m gonna fail big. That’s why I go on stage and I talk shit and I try to get in their head and I do that because I know that I’m facing a monster. I’m trying to fight the monsters. I’m the monster hunter. F**king survivor. I hate saying this shit. That shit ain’t gonna happen again.”
