Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey suffered a shocking 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207 on Friday night in Las Vegas.
The loss marked Rousey’s second straight setback, as she was previously defeated by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November of 2015 by way of a brutal head kick knockout.
Following her UFC 207 fight with Nunes, Rousey was the subject of much criticism for showcasing an extremely underdeveloped striking game, featuring little to no head movement.
Many fans, analysts and even Rousey’s own mother believe that Ronda’s lack of improvement in the stand-up department can be blamed on her head coach Edmond Tarverdyan.
In the above fan made video (posted by Bawmba B), we take a look back at some of the highlights from fighters who worked with Coach Edmond in 2016 and it is not pretty.
Here is a list of fighters who worked with coach Edmund Tarverdyan in 2016 and their records:
Ronda Rousey (0-1)
Travis Browne (1-2)
Jessamyn Duke (0-2)
Jake Ellenberger (1-2)
Ronda Rousey issued the following statement to ESPN following her loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207:
“I want to say thank you to all of my fans who have been there for me in not only the greatest moments but in the most difficult ones,” Rousey stated. “Words cannot convey how much your love and support means to me.
“Returning to not just fighting, but winning, was my entire focus this past year. However, sometimes – even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly – it doesn’t work how you planned. I take pride in seeing how far the women’s division has come in the UFC and commend all the other women who have been part of making this possible, including Amanda.
“I need to take some time to reflect and think about the future. Thank you for believing in me and understanding.”
If Ronda Rousey does decide to fight again, would you like to see her switch up fight camps? Which gym would you like to see “Rowdy” train at for her next bout? Sound off PENN Nation?
