VIDEO | Tyron Woodley: McGregor, St-Pierre, and Bisping don’t want a fight against me
Coming off a majority decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 209, it looks like UFC welterweight division champion Tyron Woodley will likely be taking on the next welterweight contender rather than getting himself a superfight with some of the stars surrounding the welterweight division.
TMZ caught up with Tyron Woodley following his win over Thompson and was asked about potential fights with Michael Bisping, Georges St-Pierre and Conor McGregor.
“Any of those three. And guess what, none of those three want to fight me. Bisping can say what he wants. ‘Aww man, if you’re the best in the world, I’m gonna . . .’ It ain’t the same. Styles make fights. Bisping gonna come out. Actually, you know what? I think Bisping would get knocked out by Wonderboy. Because Bisping don’t . . . granted, he’s very consistent, he comes out hard. When have you seen Bisping fight a stalemate or a bad fight? He’s never. That’s why he’s lost some fights, and that’s also why he’s won some fights. He would try to come out and fight Wonderboy, rushing him, and he would probably get kicked and knocked out. He would come out and try to fight me like that, and I punch harder than him and I’m the lighter guy.”
As far as the former UFC welterweight champion St-Pierre who is slated to fight Bisping for the middleweight title after taking over three years off from fighting, Woodley says GSP is simply afraid to fight him.
“Georges don’t want a concussion. That’s why he’s trying to go to ’55, or talking about the person market value. Bisping was the easiest option for the most money. Now let’s be clear. You can try to act like I’m ain’t a big draw all you want. But, Johny Hendricks sent you into a three-year coma from fighting because you didn’t want to get hit and concussed. He doesn’t want to come back and get hit by somebody like me, that’s been watching him my entire career and that’s been ready to fight him.”
With McGregor looking to get himself a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, Tyron Woodley says that Conor knows he will lose that fight but will make a ton of money without damaging his brand in mixed martial arts.
“And we know Conor don’t want it. Conor ain’t nothing. Conor is now in a position where he would have had to fight somebody real. He would have had to fight me, Tony Ferguson, or Khabib, and he knows we’re not good matchups for him. We’re not gonna fall into his antics, talking crap, it’s not gonna bother us, and he knew he had to make a choice. So his best option is to take the Floyd fight, take the L, walk away in the wind with 70 million, and remain a legend in MMA.”
