With Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg now officially on weight, and ready to fight Lina Lansberg Saturday night in Brazil, the question is being asked ‘Just how does one beat Cyborg inside the cage?’
With a 16-1-1 professional record that has seen her win and defend both the Strikeforce and Invicta featherweight championships, Cyborg possess some of the most lethal Muay Thai in all of WMMA. Throughout the course of her 16 professional wins, Cyborg has only gone the distance twice, with her other 14 wins coming by way of KO/TKO. The only loss of Cyborg’s career came in 2005 in her MMA debut, where she was submitted via kneebar in the first round of her fight with Erica Paes.
Now, just over a decade later, Cyborg is gearing up to step into the Octagon for her second UFC fight, a headlining bout in the main event of UFC Brazil this Saturday against Lina Lansberg.
Lansberg, who has promised blood in the fight, will enter the bout on a 5-fight win streak that has seen her go 6-1 in her MMA career, in addition to an extremely impressive Muay Thai background, Lansberg could very well be a phenomenal opponent for Cyborg.
Ahead of the fight, MMAJunkie caught up with several fighters on the card to get their take on how exactly one can emerge victorious when stepping into the cage against Cyborg.
Fortunately the fight is going down after a period of much uncertainty in which Cyborg was very transparent about her weight cutting struggle to make the contracted weight of 140 pounds. Cyborg managed to shed the weight over the course of the week, cutting nearly 10 pounds in the final 24 hours leading up to the weigh-in.
