Team Alpha Male’s Paige VanZant had to deal with the sting of defeat for the third time in her professional mixed martial arts career.

The former Dancing With The Stars finalist got back in the Octagon for the second time in 2016 against veteran Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson in the main event of UFC on Fox 22, which took place over the weekend in Sacramento, California.

Waterson was able to end the fight against VanZant rather quickly, choking her unconscious in the first round with a rear-naked choke.

Following the devastating loss, the head of Team Alpha Male, Urijah Faber who had his memorable retirement fight on the same card chatted with TMZ on what he said he told her after the tough loss.

“I just told her, those are the hardest losses,” Faber said. “Those are the hardest losses where you get caught with something quick and you don’t get to show what you been working on, all your improvements. So, she just has to have a short memory.

“If she wants to get after this thing and come back and make a statement in the fight game, she just needs to get right back on the horse and forget about it and start filling in those weaknesses.”

Faber mentioned that VanZant has had a lot of other opportunities pulling her in different directions, such as her stint on Dancing With The Stars but feels that she can juggle it all if she puts in her time in the gym.

“There’s no one that works harder than her when she’s in the gym. The problem is she’s getting yanked in all these different directions,” Faber explained.

“She’s 22-years-old and she’s got this new role and she’s doing her best to juggle things. That’s one thing, we’d love to see more of her in the gym when she’s not in fight camp but she’s got all these obligations, you know? She’s getting yanked with just dropping money in her bucket and those are opportunities that may go away. You never know.”
