VIDEO | Urijah Faber opens up about Jean-Claude Van Damme kicking Cody Garbrandt’s face
Jean-Claude Van Damme was recently at Team Alpha Male to show the fighters there some of his techniques. However, things got a bit more physical than anyone expected.
During a technique exchange where Garbrandt wasn’t expecting any contact sparring, Van-Damme caught the former UFC champ with a kick to the face. Team Alpha Male’s Urijah Faber was right there when it all happened and explained to TMZ what he saw go down between the two.
“The guy that took it the hardest was Jean-Claude. He was pretty upset that he kicked a guy that he loves so much because he’s good buddies with Cody. And, Cody is just coming off this hard loss as well and you could tell that Cody was pissed. Cody was not really having it,” said Faber.
“Jean-Claude is the one that dropped the (censored). He was so pissed at himself that he dropped down and got real emotional. We had to console him. Cody left the Octagon and I was trying to tell Jean-Claude that this stuff happens all the time and he was like, ‘Oh, what have I done?!”
Faber was then pressed and asked who he thinks would win if the two were to actually get into fight with one another.
“Well, Cody said that the only thing that saved Jean-Claude at that moment was his age. If it came to fisticuffs, you know I’d have to go with the former champ at the moment. But, you never know. Jean-Claude is a mystical creature. He could pull something out of his hat and get it done.”
