VIDEO | Vasyl Lomachenko drills wrestling, teases UFC move

Riding high off an impressive defeat of Guillermo Rigondeaux, rising boxing superstar Vasyl Lomachenko is now angling for an April or May scrap with Jorge Linares.

On Tuesday morning, Lomachenko took to Twitter to share a video of himself drilling wrestling, suggesting that if Linares didn’t to put pen to paper soon, he might be forced to pursue a career in the UFC in the meantime. Of course, it’s worth noting that the boxer included a tear-eyed laughing emoji in this post…

“You ready to fight me at 135 [Jorge Linares]?” Lomachenko queried. “If not, maybe I’ll go win a belt in the UFC first while waiting on you.”

Lomachenko has brushed with the world of mixed martial arts before, having sparred with TJ Dillashaw in the past.

“I need to learn what’s up,” Dillashaw told ESPN of the opportunity to share the ring with Lomachenko. “I’m always trying to expand my knowledge as a mixed martial artist. I’m such a big fan [of Lomachenko], I wouldn’t pass this opportunity up. Even if I get obliterated, it’s something I’ll remember forever.”

Interestingly, Dillashaw quickly responded to Lomachenko’s UFC Tweet, urging him to contact the promotion.

Lomachenko then responded with an emoji-laided Tweet, cementing the fact that he was probably just joking around about moving to the UFC.

Do you think Vasyl Lomachenko could perform in the UFC’s Octagon?
