Friday morning in New York, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier missed weight for his scheduled UFC 210 scrap with Anthony Johnson Saturday night, where he will look to defend his title for the second time, and once again earn himself a win over Anthony Johnson. Cormier weighed in at 206.2 pounds, 1.2 pounds over the light heavyweight title fight limit of 205 pounds.

Cormier then went backstage, and just two minutes after missing weight by 1.2 pounds, miraculously made 205 pounds on the dot. This caused quite a bit of controversy as those in attendance pointed out that Cormier pressed down on the privacy towel in order to offset his weight, helping him weigh-in at 205 pounds despite the fact that just two minutes prior, he was 1.2 pounds over the limit.

NYSAC Executive Director Tony Giardina addressed media members in attendance after the controversial situation in an attempt to sort out the confusion, where he denied that Cormier was holding the towel during his second weigh-in attempt.

Above you can see the full video of Cormier’s second weigh-in attempt, where he presses down on the towel in order to offset his weight.

One bit of information that was overshadowed by the controversy surrounding Cormier’s weigh-in was the fact that challenger Anthony Johnson weighed in two pounds under the required light heavyweight title fight limit of 205 pounds. While many years ago Johnson struggled to make weight at lightweight and welterweight, Johnson certainly had no trouble weighing in for UFC 210, where he will look to avenge his 2015 loss to Daniel Cormier and capture the light heavyweight championship.
