Alistair Overeem KO's Mark Hunt at UFC 209

Last Saturday night, the UFC returned to the combat sports mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada with UFC 209. Though this anticipated card was rocked by the last minute cancelation of its Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson interim lightweight title co-main event, and criticized for the insipid performances of Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the main event, it also produced several memorable moments.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night occurred on the undercard, when gritty Team Alpha Male veteran Darren Elkins persevered through a two-round beating to knock out previously unbeaten prospect Mirsad Bektic in the third-round.

Another highlight of the card occurred in the first fight of the pay-per-view, when recent heavyweight title challenger Alistair Overeem patiently dismantled fellow veteran Mark Hunt en route to a third-round, knee-induced knockout.

David Teymur punches Lando Vannata at UFC 209

A third highlight of the card was a lightweight battle between wild strikers Lando Vannata and David Teymur, who were bumped to the co-main event spot at the last minute with the cancellation of the card’s Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson fight. The two lightweight strikers dazzled fans with a thrilling, three-round battle, earning themselves Fight of the Night bonus checks as they did.

Needless to say, though UFC 209 was far from perfect, it generated some pretty awesome moments.

Now that the card is in the rear-view mirror, the UFC has released slow motion footage of its highlights as part of its popular Fight Motion series. In this video, you can see Elkins’ comeback, Overeem’s KO, Vannata and Teymur’s lightweight war, and more, all in riveting slow motion. Watch it in full at the top of this article!
