By this point, most fight fans know that UFC commentator Joe Rogan is not a man to be trifled with. As a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, and a a pretty striker too, Rogan is not just a good analyst but damn good martial artist. And as it turns out, Rogan’s efforts in the gym have rubbed off on his long-time broadcast partner Mike Goldberg.

Goldberg, of course, is nowhere near the martial artist Rogan is, but as you can see in the video at the top of this post, which shows him smashing pads with UFC and Strikeforce veteran Josh Thomson, he put forth a Rudy-esque effort.

Goldberg was released by the UFC at the end of 2016, but if you didn’t initially notice, you can’t really be blamed. The veteran commentator received precisely zero sendoff from his long-time employer, which generated some pretty serious backlash from the combat sports community.

Since then, Goldberg has done a bit of work for Bellator MMA, the world’s number-two MMA promotion. The spirited commentator helped call the Bellator 180/ Bellator NYC action back in June.
